Tincture & Infused Oil, Hands-On Class

Join herbalist, Judith Yisrael, in this virtual class and make a tincture & infused oil from the comfort of your home.

Spring is here, plants are flourishing and there is no better time to learn! Tinctures are made with alcohol or vinegar to extract the medicinal properties of herbs. They are a wonderful and convenient way of taking herbal medicine.

In this informative class, we will make a skullcap tincture and discuss various methods of making fresh and dried plant tinctures. You will also learn how to create a solar and quick-method herb-infused oil and salve.

Meet Judith

Born in the midwest and raised on both sides of the Mississippi, Judith Yisrael, was immersed into the art of African American herbalism by her mother who was raised by Judith’s great-grandmother in rural Texas. Judith grew up as a child of the armed forces and mom found the right holistic and herbal remedy for any ailment no matter what side of the Mississippi they landed.  After serving time in corporate North America as both a Manager and trainer, Judith made a decision to reconnect to the natural world and returned to her roots in Herbalism. This eventually led her to urban farming and transitioning to a plant-based diet. The road was rough, but after some failures, Judith and her family began to successfully grow their own food and decided to share what has worked so well for them, with the world.

Judith is a community educator with a focus on herbalism, Food Justice and various homesteading skills such as soapmaking, and plant-based cooking classes. Judith is a community-proclaimed Culinarian, a title Judith earned after revisiting her relationship with food and learning to cook and work with fresh fruits and vegetables. Her life’s focus is reconnecting people back to earth-based practices for self-care and self-empowerment. She is a master soapmaker whose natural line of products are sold in retail stores in Sacramento.

Judith has been named emerging food leader (Edible Sacramento April 2016) for her work in cultural kitchen education and urban agriculture. She co-founded the Yisrael Family Urban Farm and serves on the board of directors for Common Vision and is a member of the American Herbalist Guild. Judith holds various certifications in herbalism and has an undergraduate degree in business management.
