Hyssopus officinalis 




Hyssop, like most members of the mint family aids in promoting healthy digestion. Hyssop is more known for its inclusion in herbal formulas supporting respiratory health. The essential oils and antioxidant properties in Hyssop flowering tops help to support upper respiratory immune function as well as calm bronchial and respiratory muscle tension.


Use: (a) Antiviral, (b) Cholagogue, (c) Expectorant, (d) Vulnerary, (e) Carminative, (f) Astringent.


Hyssop is used for indigestion, influenza, colds and a gargle for sore throats. It is beneficial for low-grade continual fevers with septic conditions, especially when related to viral infections.


Contraindications: It is contraindicated in pregnancy due to the emmenagogue and abortifacient effects.

1,8 cineole, camphor, diosmin, hesperidin, rosmarinic acid, ursolic acid
