Loose Leaf Brewing Instructions

Bring cold water to a boil. Add herbs, 1-2 teaspoons per cup of water. Pour hot water over herbs and steep 10-15 minutes (add an extra 30 seconds of steeping time for your second or third infusion). Remove or strain herbs and enjoy!

Ashwagandha puts the "hush" on cortisol and brings a deep sense of calm. If you feel "wired and tired," this herb can be especially helpful at bedtime. Ashwagandha reduces inflammation, oxidative stress, and anxiety and improves sleep, memory, energy, and libido. It can also reduce heavy bleeding during your period and eliminate uterine fibroids with long-term use.

 

Lemon Balm is a calming herb that belongs to the mint family. No wonder it has a natural mint flavor with a slight taste of lemon. It reduces the stress hormone called cortisol and relaxes the body without causing drowsiness. It also helps to elevate the mood.

 

Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus) There is evidence that eleuthero was first used as an herbal remedy in China some 2,000 years ago. The plant is mostly used in traditional medicines as an adaptogen, a compound that helps the body better handle and adapt to stress. Eleuthero also acts as a stimulant, increasing nervous system function. By increasing circulation, eleuthero may increase blood flow to the brain, improving mental functions such as memory and concentration.

 

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) was used traditionally in the Americas and later in Europe as a calming herb for anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and hysteria. It is still used today to treat anxiety and insomnia. Scientists believe passionflower works by increasing levels of a chemical called gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA lowers the activity of some brain cells, making you feel more relaxed.

 

Holy Basil/Tulsi, All parts of the holy basil plant act as an adaptogen. According to the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, holy basil has antidepressant and anti-anxiety properties comparable to diazepam and antidepressant drugs.

 

Lavender flower and its extracts have been used, both internally and by olfaction, for centuries as a treatment for anxiety and depression.
